Animation has the power to put on the screen the situations and emotions which no camera can capture. This makes its combination with the documentary form a perfect medium to discuss sensitive issues. The programme of best animated documentaries of this festival season demonstrates that what seem as incompatible genres, when combined, produce an even more powerful result.

In this year’s series Animated Documentaries I and Animated Documentaries II, we have collected 12 short animated documentaries that address a variety of topics: political, cultural, anthropological, fates of individuals and much more.
