The driver of a small car is asked to tow a broken-down vehicle, but gets rather more than he expected – a whole state motorcade. The directors originally included tanks after the last cars, but had to change this ending to get the film past the censors.
Spomenik / Das Monument / The Monument
A statue, with outstretched arm pointing “forward,” is unveiled to thunderous applause. Then one day it points the other way. Once again, thunderous applause!

In a desert, a vulture enjoys the silence of a hot afternoon. Suddenly a noisy vehicle appears. Two pistoleros exit the car ready for a duel. The vulture watches, ready to take advantage.

She comes at night, quiet as a cat, to take his sleep away until he feeds her. All she needs is milk brought by him somewhere between sleep and reality. Her name is Insomnia.

A family lives in a house that teeters precariously on the very tip of a mountain. The balance of the house is affected not only by the family that lives inside, but also their cow, dog, cat, a passing bird, and a man with a couple of sheep who returns in a car.

A person comes to a crossroads and cannot decide which way to take. People he asks confuse him more than they help.

In keeping with their Sunday tradition, after mass a family flocks to grandma and grandpa’s house, where the chaotic discussion soon begins to resemble a raucous gathering of crows on power lines. Out of sheer boredom, a young boy drops a coin on some nearby train tracks. After a train has run over it, he discovers to his astonishment that an amazing transformation has taken place.

“I love to draw comics, so for my thesis I wanted an idea that absolutely had to be animated. I wanted to do Singles because it could never work as a comic; it hardly worked as an animatic! The main guy lives with infinite selves, they all move the same way at the same time because they’re all the same person. The film is about being alone.” RS
